The picture was presented to Clifford
Road primary school by Major Eddie
Malo (left), a pilot fn the 359
Fighter Squadron and Major General Donald
Strait (right), commanding officer of 361 Fighter Squadron.
They were among a group of around 20 former American servicemen
from the United States Army Air Force who flew Into England
to celebrate the second anniversary of Martlesham's control
tower museum.
Robert Dunnett, of Martlesham
Heath Aviation Society, said: "It is good to provide a
link between the youth of today and the war veterans of the
past. They have done so well at Clifford Road School by creating
this museum and it was in recognition of this that we presented
them with the picture."
The picture will be displayed in the Clifford
Road air raid shelter, which is open
to the public on the first Saturday of each month, from
10am until 2pm, and on the first Sunday of each month, from
1pm until 5pm. Admission for adults costs
£1.50 and £1 for concessions.
The museum is also open to schools on weekdays.
