Bob Dunnett, founder of the Martlesham Heath Control Tower Museum has been awarded a Community Pioneer work for his tenacity in keeping momentum up and bringing the museum into existence.

Bob Dunnett receiving the Pioeer (Community) Award. Some years ago, Bob decided that the fascinating history of the Control Tower at Martlesham Heath should be preserved for all time.  Bob and a team of helpers and supporters have been working for years to bring the control tower back into a usable state. They have created the museum, and organize events, that continually bring the Control Tower back into people's lives, ensuring that the tower and the people who fought and sometimes paid the ultimate sacrifice, will always be remembered.

Against the odds, and the disbelievers, Bob Dunnett succeeding in opening the Control Tower Museum. Along the way, he succeeded in winning grant funding and donations that were essential to restore the tower, and continue to be essential to keep the museum running.

The letter nominating Bob for the award said  that Robert is a perfectionist and with a small band of helpers has created a museum that will hopefully last for ever.

The award was presented to Bob by Paul Clement, Directory of the Ipswich Partnership.
