MARTLESHAM HEATH CONTROL TOWER MUSEUM OPEN DAY 2008 14TH SEPTEMBER (Click here to view, or download, and/or print the full colour poster - 6mb PDF) From 11:00 to 16:00 THIS YEARS THEME WILL BE TO CELEBRATE THE 90TH BIRTHDAY OF THE ROYAL AIR FORCE FREE ADMISSION – Donations are appreciated. Attractions so far arranged ... with more to come... include: A flypast display by the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Douglas DC3 Dakota. Vintage Bus Rides Wing Commander Ken Wallis (who we are proud to announce has agreed to become a Society Vice-President) returns with his Autogiro “Little Nelly” – as seen in The James Bond Film “You only Live Twice”. There is a display by Chindit Infantrymen – and Burma Mules – from The Living History Museum. (Orde Wingate’s Chindit soldiers fought mainly in the Jungle against the Japanese in an almost ignored/forgotten part of World War II). Listen to the evocative sound of “Martlesham Brass”. View Vintage Military and Civilian Vehicles. Tap your feet to The Jive, and be amazed at the antics of our Jive Dancers. Visit our Underground Bunker, and the RAF/USAAF Control Tower Museum.
