Meetings are held in the Community Hall, Felixstowe Road, Martlesham Heath. IP12 4PB on the first Friday of each month.

Meetings start at 7.30pm with a tea/coffee break at half time.

Admission £3 for members and £5 for non-members. Pay at the door

    Friday 4th April 2025

    MHAS will be welcoming Pieter Shipster to the Community Centre on Friday 4th April to talk about the history and stories behind the prestigious Schneider Trophy for seaplanes and it's links and impact on Martlesham Heath, Felixstowe and the Battle of Britain during World War 2.  Please come along and join us for what will be a fascinating insight into those days of aircraft speed, power and design!

  • Stuart Buxton - "The Secret Oil Pipeline that helped to Win the War"

    We look forward to welcoming Stuart Buxton in June to tell us the fascinating story of the secret oil pipeline that was vital to the war effort in East Anglia during the Second World War. Not only was the pipeline a vital part of the war effort, it remains a key part of the UK infrastructure and remains hidden in plain site, if you know where to look!

  • Graham Murchie - "The Eyes of the Few"

    July will see us welcome Graham Murchie to the Community Centre talk about the history & development of radar at Bawdsey Manor - the events, people and technologies which led to it becoming the first operational radar centre during World War 2 and its continued role in the following years. Please come along and enjoy what promises to be a fascinating talk about this iconic local landmark.

  • MHAS Society Visit to the "Great War Huts"

    Wednesday 13th August 2025

    In place of our usual monthly talk, August sees a Society visit to the "Great War Huts" - a fantastic and interesting First World War Visitor Centre providing an insight into how soldiers lived and worked via the restoration and preservation of a number of original First World War Barrack Huts giving access to original artefacts and hands-on exhibits as well as talks by subject matter experts. The site includes a large trench system, accurately recreated to provide a true experience of the conditions.
