MHAS would like to invite you to come along and visit the Control Tower Museum as we open in 2025.

We look forward to welcoming Richard Folkes OBE in October to give us an insight into his role and experiences of managing the helicopter scenes in the Bond movie ‘Skyfall’ & the famous arrival of the Queen at the 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony! We're sure it will be a fascinating evening.

As a new venture into providing interesting and informative films, MHAS will be showing a film produced by the renowned TV and Film maker, Tim Curtis, with a real local interest about the alleged German invasion attempt in the 2nd World War. We'll be including an Q&A at the end so we can really look into what has always been a mystery on our doorstep!

Next month sees us welcome Stuart Yule, MSc CEng FRAeS, a Business Technical Specialist with Rolls Royce, to give us a very topical and interesting insight into the future of aircraft engines and associated technology, as the industry drives forward the agenda to make aviation more sustainable. It's sure to be an fascinating evening, so please come and join us!

As we move into the winter months, December sees us welcoming Richard Mann to take a light hearted look at some of the more interesting attempts in human endeavours to fly in his talk 'Up in the Air'. We look forward to seeing you there...

2026 will soon be upon us, and MHAS is pleased to welcome back Chris Turland to the Community Centre on Friday 2nd January to tell us about the story of the key roles performed by women in aviation and its development during the 20th Century. Please come along and join us!

February sees us welcome Kara Neave to bring us the little known story of the heroic nurses who flew to help the wounded after D-Day. As always, we're looking forward to hearing a fascinating talk. Please come and join us!

March sees us welcoming Don Mobley to give us two talks on fascinating subjects! Drones have become an increasingly visible part of civilian and military life and Don explores their dramatic evolution and a glimpse into the future. He then will give us an insight into the founding of NASA, the geopolitical and technological environment and the impact on Society during the Space Race of the 50's and 60's - as always we're sure it will be a great evening.
