Discover the fascinating and unusual story of RAF Martlesham Heath.

Learn of its triumphs, disasters, and aviation achievements, including the aircraft test and development  from from 1915 up to the 1970s.

Understand its role in the Battle of Britain, and as a base for USAAF P-47 "Thunderbolt" and P-51 "Mustang" fighters.

Marvel at the "boffins" at RAF Bawdsey, the Flying Boat Station at Felixstowe, and the Armament Development facility at Orfordness.

See and remember the brave British and Americans who worked, fought there, and those who died while based here. You may even meet a survivor of those dark days.

It is no exaggeration to say that R.A.F. Martlesham Heath played a pivotal role in the development of Aviation in Great Britain. Based in the original Control Tower, as used through most of World War II, this Museum is crammed full of interesting items, photos and stories, giving the history of the Heath. Artefacts re. RFC  RAF and USAAF through from the opening of Martlesham Heath in 1917 until closure in 1967.

Any artefacts, photos and information are welcomed to become part of our Museum.

Every Sunday from Easter Sunday until the last Sunday in October.
